"Perpetua" by Jason Mast 34"Hx36"Wx22"D The apple is made out of Pink Ivory Wood The branches are Manzanita and the base is a Myrtlewood Burl
This is Jason's first named work of art. Named with influence from "Cape Perpetua", the windblown bluff on the Oregon Coast overlooking the Pacific Ocean. What is represented in this work of art? Jason has left this up to the viewer to decide. It was created shortly after he changed his career goal of becoming an engineer to a career as an artistic woodturner and while his Grandfather was dieing of cancer. Here's Sharon's interpretation: The perfect fruit is juxtaposed with the magnificent dead tree. --The seeds of hope in perpetuity --Hope for the future.
